PROCESSES FOR OBTAINING A FEDERATION LICENCE FOR AMATEUR GOLFER

FEDERATION GOLF LICENCE

Federation membership is obtained by acquiring the licence from the Federation. The licence entitles its holders to membership of the Federation.

The amateur golfer sports licence is compulsory for practising golf in Spain, according to the rules of the Higher Sports Board and currently effective legislation. The insurance for this licence covers civil liability and any accidents that may arise while playing golf on a duly approved course.

VALIDITY OF THE LICENCE

The validity of the federation licence is for a calendar year,  that is, from January to December each year. When a federation member joins, the validity of their licence is therefore set from that date until 31st December that year, this licence having a single price which is not divisible. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation (R.F.E.G.) automatically renews all licences on 1st January each year. This document will endure over time and its validity is proved by the receipt for annual payment that the federation member receives directly from the R.F.E.G. or from the banking institution where this is direct debited. This annual receipt must be kept along with the licence.

LICENCE WITH NO HANDICAP

In theory any persons with no experience in this sport shall apply for a licence with no handicap, which will allow them to play and practice golf and take part in certain competitions, though without any option for a prize.

HOW TO OBTAIN A HANDICAP

In order to obtain a first handicap the federation member has to have acquired sufficient preparation and have passed the tests that are laid down by the Competition Committees of each Club or the Balearic Islands Golf Federation.

To this end the federation members must either address their Club or the relevant Territorial Federation, where they will be informed about the steps to take to have their corresponding handicap assigned to them.

After the handicap has been assigned, the federation member will have to pay for the difference in price between the licence without a handicap that they already have and the licence with handicap being applied for. This difference only affects licences in the "MAYOR" (adult) category. The Committee will send the amount and inform the Royal Spanish Golf Federation of the handicap assigned in order for this to become effective.

THE HANDICAP WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE WHEN, AFTER PAYING THE DIFFERENCE, THE ROYAL SPANISH GOLF FEDERATION HAS ENTERED THIS IN ITS DATABASE.

LICENCE WITH HANDICAP

The Federation licence with handicap can only be processed by Clubs or Territorial Federations for those persons who, after previously having had a licence with a handicap, had cancelled this for any reason and intend to obtain the licence again. In these cases they will have to confirm the handicap that they had or lower, on the date of cancelling federation membership, since to grant them a higher one their Club's or Territorial Committee will have to justify this. These can similarly be issued to golfers from abroad who can vouch for being in due possession of the handicap.

Any licence which reaches the offices of the Balearic Islands Golf Federation complying with any of the three requisites mentioned below will be processed with the R.F.E.G. to have this registered with handicap:

1.- Licence signed and sealed by the Club's Competition Committee.

2.- Licence signed by a professional with licence in force from the R.F.E.G. stating his or her licence number.

3.- Licence accompanied by the federation card of the country of origin, including a handicap certificate.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE LICENCE

Processing of the licence application.

All processing of licences in the Balearic Islands' Community will have to be done through the Balearic Islands Golf Federation, to later send these to the R.F.E.G.

a) Directly to the Club to which the person belongs as member.

After filling in the Licence Application form provided, the Club itself processes this on behalf of the new federation member. The application will have to have the "Approval of the Club's Competition Committee" section of the form filled in.

b) At the Territorial Federation for their address, in the event of not belonging to the Club.

As stated above, but through the corresponding Territorial Federation, in the event of not belonging to the Club.

c) By ordinary mail.

Print out the Licence Application Form directly, fill in the form in capitals, including all of the sections in the form, and send this by post to the Club which you would like to belong to or to the Territorial Federation, NOT TO THE SPANISH GOLF FEDERATION.

*** No applications for registering licences sent by fax will be allowed.

Registration at the R.F.E.G. will not take effect until this is included in the database. The federation card will be sent to the interested party's address by the R.F.E.G.

DUPLICATE OF FEDERATION LICENCE

If you have not received the card after some time, and you know registration has gone through with the federation through assignation of the licence number, you should ask for a duplicate licence to be issued on the grounds of loss of the original. Do this by getting in touch with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation either by phone (91.555.26.82), fax (91.556.32.90) or by e-mail (rfegolf@golfspain.com).

Any persons who have previously had a licence and who had cancelled this or had it cancelled for any reason and who wish to obtain one again, can in these cases:

1.- If the cancellation was in previous years, become a federation member again or if they wish,  recover the licence with the previous number, but having to pay all the yearly dues from cancellation as a federation member.

2.- If the cancellation was in the same year, recover the same licence, it being essential to send through the Balearic Islands Golf Federation the licence application form again, duly filled in and updated in all its sections, as well as the amount due for the corresponding receipt for payment of the R.F.E.G (payment in cash or justification of the bank transfer to the account of the R.F.E.G.), since direct debited payment will not be valid, though it will be possible in successive years on renewing the annual dues for the licence, the charge being made by direct debit if this is stated in the application.
